James and Alex Thomson reunite (after far too long apart!) to pick through some of the most esoteric and unorthodox ideas from James’s recent guests. From biblical provocations to full-blown heresy, they pull at threads most would rather leave alone. Alex - polyglot, language specialist, and expert in biblical translation - brings a deep knowledge of the text. You can find more of his splendid work at Eastern Approaches / UK Column:

But delighted to hear Alex's endorsement of Charles Malet. I am a huge admirer of Charles and his work, but the is the nagging doubt that he is quite impossible with his amazing background. One can quite easily trace his ancestry back (and I did) to William The Conqueror and his ancestor of nearly a thousand years hence being detailed to bury the defeated and dead, King Harold. I can relax and enjoy the man now. Because if Alex gives him an unsolicited thumbs up, that is good enough for me!
I was deeply saddened by Alex's view of Christopher Sparkes' 28 year bible translation project. Even though delivered in the loving way that it was. I am hoping, God willing, to meet up with Chris in the near future which he has graciously agreed to and I hope that he will find the strength to take up Alex on his offer to get together. Because they are, I believe, both Godly men and only good can come of such a meeting, I believe.
Godspeed!
